Update on Landon

Just a short note...we went back to the doctor this afternoon and told the doctor that Landon's condition had not improved. The doctor prescribed him amoxicillin and ventolin. We immediately gave him a dose of the antibiotic but are checking with a doctor friend about the ventolin and whether or not it is safe to give him as prescribed and if the dosages are correct for each of the medicines. By the way, Landon is six weeks old and around eleven pounds, give or take a couple of ounces, in case anyone wants to check with a trusted doctor and get back with us on what the correct dose should be for each of these and if Ventolin should even be given to him. We are trying to get an answer as quick as possible so we can give him the drug if it will help. The doctor said we should notice an improvement in his cough within three days. Ron

  3. ron,
the short answer is that yes both of those meds at those doses should be fine. amoxil is given at 40mg/kg/day , divided into 3 doses. ventolin syrup would be about 0.1mg/kg/dose up to 3x per day. hope that helps.
